How does this work?
You will see real Instructional Design activities, one at a time: 24 in the free Quick Check and all 66 in the Full Diagnostic, covering the 12 stages of the ID workflow. For each, you decide the most appropriate professional Human–AI working mode: Human, Human-Led + AI-Assisted, AI-Led + Human-Validated, or AI. There is no "more AI = better" answer. Recommended answers stay hidden until you finish.
ID Foundation
Can I perform the underlying Instructional Design work?
- Diagnosing performance problems and defining capability
- Learner, task and context analysis
- Learning strategy, architecture and sequencing
- Assessment aligned to evidence of performance
AI Utilization
Can I appropriately use AI to accelerate ID work?
- Research-intensive synthesis at volume
- First-draft generation and transformation
- Systematic QA, accessibility and consistency checks
- Evaluation data analysis with human validation
Human Judgment
Do I recognise what should remain human-owned?
- Diagnosis and contextual understanding
- Prioritisation and instructional judgement
- Ethical judgement, accuracy and accountability
- Final decisions and business impact claims
Augmentation Maturity
Can I redesign and orchestrate the workflow around Human + AI?
- Humans set direction and the quality bar
- AI accelerates execution
- Humans evaluate and refine AI output
- Human + AI operate as a combined system
Human + AI working modes
Every activity can be owned in one of four ways. Understanding the distinction between them is the foundation of the assessment.
| Mode | Meaning | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Human | The ID owns and performs the task. AI may assist, but human judgement remains central. | Diagnosis, context, strategy, judgement, ethics, final decisions and accountability. |
| Human-Led + AI-Assisted | The human sets the objective, constraints and quality bar; AI substantially assists execution. | AI accelerates while the ID directs. |
| AI-Led + Human-Validated | AI performs most of the task; the human validates, corrects and owns the final decision. | AI executes while the ID validates. |
| AI | AI can perform the task with appropriate human oversight. | Structured, repeatable, bounded and reviewable work. |
The scoring model
More AI does not mean greater readiness. You are rewarded for the appropriate Human–AI decision for that particular activity. The score is a reflection tool, not a psychometric measure.
