How to use the tool

Purpose

Discover how effectively you make Human + AI decisions across real Instructional Design activities, and identify where you can work differently with AI.

You are not being assessed on how much work you can delegate to AI.

You are being assessed on how appropriately you decide where human expertise, AI assistance and Human + AI collaboration belong across the Instructional Design workflow.

There is no "more AI = better" answer.

01

Step 01: Assess

Choose your diagnostic—the free Quick Check or the Full Diagnostic—then, for each Instructional Design activity, select the Human–AI working mode you believe is most appropriate. Answer based on how the work SHOULD ideally be performed in a high-quality professional workflow, not simply how you currently perform it. There is no “more AI = better” answer.

02

Step 02: Explain

Use the optional “Why did you choose this mode?” field to explain your reasoning, then rate how confident you are in the choice. Neither is scored; both make your results more useful to you.

03

Step 03: Discover

Complete the assessment to receive your Augmented ID Readiness™ score, readiness level and four capability dimensions: ID Foundation, AI Utilization, Human Judgment and Augmentation Maturity. The Full Diagnostic adds the 12-stage workflow profile, delegation profile, self-perception and confidence alignment.

04

Step 04: Act

Click Get My Personalized Augmented ID Action Plan to turn your results into practical next steps. Your Action Plan identifies what to keep human-led, what you could delegate more to AI, where to combine Human + AI, your top 3 priorities, and a 30-day action plan.

The four Human–AI working modes

Select the mode that represents the most appropriate professional Human–AI workflow for that activity. Appropriate delegation scores well; maximum delegation does not.

Human
The human performs and owns the task. Use when: Diagnosis, context, strategy, ethics, final decisions and accountability.
Human-Led + AI-Assisted
The human directs the work; AI accelerates, supports or augments it. Use when: AI accelerates while the ID directs.
AI-Led + Human-Validated
AI performs most of the task; the human validates, corrects and owns the final decision. Use when: AI executes while the ID validates.
AI
AI can perform this bounded task with appropriate oversight. Use when: Structured, repeatable, bounded and reviewable work.

The goal isn't to use more AI.

It's to use Human + AI better.
